Great second day! Very little homework. Only one pack of batteries so far (Thanks Nathan V.); we sure could use some more. Ask your child about Electronic Reading! Super cool stuff!

Check out the “Student Blog” section. We will try to update this frequently. Students, if you want to create a blog at home, write it on google docs and share it with me.

Book Clubs starting next week. If you would like to lead a book club, I can provide you a complete tutorial. Kids love book clubs and you will too. Easy and only takes 20 minutes a day!

Book order coming home tomorrow. I am trying online ordering this year. Stay tuned for updates!

Great First Day!

We had a wonderful first day, apart from the bee stings, and are off to a great start. The students were eager to get down to business and we found we just ran out of hours! I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish tomorrow.

You will notice a homework tab at the top of this sheet. This is where to go for a daily homework update. We are trying not to call reading “homework,” rather it is something we want to do. While I know this may not be true in every case, it is definately a goal. Expect 30 to 40 minutes of homework regularly. If you student works hard for more than 40 minutes and are still not finished, feel free to sign off on their homework stating that fact. This does not include nightly reading, which I am encouraging as a way to wind down the evening.

Welcome to a new school year!

We are going to have a terrific year. As the year progresses, we will be in need of some supplies that did not make the School Supply List. For starters, we are in need of AA batteries. These will power our AlphaSmart keyboards and classroom response “Clickers.” A large “Kirkland” brand pack is available at Costco and will help meet our power needs. To see either of these technologies in action, please feel free to drop in anytime!

I will post our new classlist here on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m., so check back.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at the ice cream meet-n-greet at 3:00 on Wednesday.
